One of the joys of having been a portrait photographer for over a decade is getting to watch families grow. We first met this family in 2011 at one of the sisters weddings when the oldest grand children were flowers girls and a page boy! Since when we've captured family portraits, milestone birthdays and now back for an extended family portrait session with all the grandchildren. What a priviledge!

One of the hardest things about COVID lockdowns has been the separation of families, even in the same country people have not been able to see each other for years. Well this family were delighted to see each other after 2 and a half years travelling over from WA to NSW and wanted me to capture the memories for them at their gorgeous home in the southern highlands.

What to do when we have a very wet summer in Sydney, that seems to go on forever.... embrace it with gumboots and umbrellas!
This family were booked for a family portrait mini session earlier this autumn but on the day couldn't attend so change to a Weekday 40:40 session a month later as we took a while to find a date that worked. When it arrived the weather didn't look great, with rain forcast but that seemed to be the cast for every day this year so instead of rescheduling again the family decided to embrace the weather and we carried on with gumboots and umbrellas while exploring Wendy Whiteley's secret garden.

This was the fabulous extended family that I finally got to meet last weekend. We've been rescheduling them since last July with lockdowns, COVID Iso, etc. On Saturday I was very worried about the session as the forecast looked to grim but they wanted to go ahead and look what happened....
Beautiful sunshine, and as tends to happen with lots of shoots we start off being formal and then everyone relaxes and realises this is way more fun than they thought and their true personalities come through.... I love the last photo with the grandparents hanging from a tree!

This afternoon when I left home is as just starting rain with a storm front coming, but I checked the radar and thought we should be ok for our 40 min session at North Narrabeen Rockpool. The day has been stinking hot and it was the first week of kids back at school, so I hadn't factored in how many people would be down at the Rockpool cooling off. Even on a busy day you can make the most of the beautiful setting here for photography.
As you can see we did get out window (just) before the storm, we even got some salami waves (that's was the youngest boy called the big waves as he can't say Tsunami) - the things out kids have learnt this summer! And we enjoy some family time with grand parents over visiting from the UK for the first time in 2 years.

The advantages of Australia opening up to the world again is that international family can now visit... Yay!During January I was lucky enough to capture memories for a few families who had grandparents visiting for the first time in 2 years. It's so lovely to see that these bonds are still very strong even with the imposed distance.This families are half Australian and half French, the last time they had photos with their grandmother was in England. So we picked an Aussie beach scene, which still works even on an overcast day.

When the kids are young we tend to think about having family portraits regularly because they grow and change so quickly. As they get older it start to drop off and family portraits are captured at events, or on family holidays. Well in the last couple of years there hasn't been as many of these with Lockdowns and COVID restrictions. So this Mum requested some family portraits of her teens before they fly the coop.
Teens tend to be a little less willing to have their photos taken, but picking a location they have an affinity with helps, and it doesn't take too long for everyone to relax and get into the shoot.

Family portraits with young children are my favourite, spending some time capturing how they interact with each other and getting to know the kids a little is what I do best. Sometimes it takes a little while to see what makes the kids happy but with these two it was fun immediately. Their little boy became my best buddy and wanted to always hold my hand down steps... the only tricky part was getting him to let go so I could use my camera.

First Holy Communion is a special time for the whole family, and this family decided to commemorate it was a special family portrait session. The day its self was hectic and slightly different with COVID restrictions so they got dressed up again the week later for me to photograph them.Such a lovely idea to capture the memories. And when you spend all that time finding the right dress for the occasion its important to have the memories captured.

Another year for banking memories of Peter & Callum. I've been having family portrait sessions with these two for over 8 years. As a single parent you don't often get photos of yourself with your child just having fun, so Peter has asked me along to a fun adventure with himself and Callum every year to capture these memories over time.
Last year was their last session with their lovely Black Labrador Onyx, who died of old age earlier this year. So at this session I got to meet their new puppy Zoomer, what a bundle of energy and lots of fun.

Meet Baby Alice, just 5 days new. What a delight to be asked to photograph such a fresh little bub, made even more so that I also photographed her older sister when she was born, and her parents wedding! Such a special part of what we do, capturing the important moments in family lives.
Baby Alice had only been home since the previous afternoon so her big sister was still just getting to know about this new entity who has completely changed her world. Even in the short time I was with them you can see how she is learning and all the emotion that goes with having a new sister. So precious to be able to capture this time.
I look forward to seeing them again when they have that wonderful bond of sisterhood all sorted out x

A chilly autumn morning for me to catch up with this lovely family, who I've been photographing for a number of years now. We had a bit of sunshine and warmth, plus cuddles to keep us happy. We also enjoyed running on the wharf and looking at the boats at Tambourine Bay Scouts.

So lovely to catch up with this family, for an extended family portrait shoot. Hadn't seen many of the family since capturing their daughters wedding 10 years ago.
The first time the whole family had been together for a long time, with all the state border closures etc planned gatherings had been postponed. So we had this pencilled in and were very please that it actually went ahead. Love seeing extended family together, and photographing these kind of shoots. Getting all the combinations of grandparents, individual families, siblings and everyone together.Best part about my job, watching families grow and documenting it for years to come x

Recently friends of ours contacted me about taking some photographs of them. Cassie's grandmother has dementia and is turning 90 so they said the family are putting together a photo book for her of everyone, they wanted some good couple photographs of them to put in the book. So we met at Long Reef beach on a beautiful sunday afternoon and walked along the golf course to my favoured spot, having a great chat and catch up. I set them up for their first photograph, took a few shots and then Hamish pulled this onesie out of his pocket..... I had to zoom in with the lens to read what it said.... then ran over to them to hug them! Cheeky buggers ;-) completely surprised me x
So the couple portraits turned into a pregnancy announcement shoot, and I'm so delighted for them and overjoyed they asked me, and surprised me at the same time xxx

The brief for this headshot session was to get a variety of corporate style portraits to be used for board prospectus, Linked In Profiles and various corporate portfolios. So we chose generic backgrounds which could be used for these purposes and a range of corporate looks.
I think these photographs will definitely stand out on any publication or profile don't you.

What a stunning afternoon we had at Echo Point Park, Roseville Chase for these fun family portraits. We chose the location because their dog Dali could come along too which was really important. She's a rescue dog, who used to be a breeding dog so not a great life. When they rescued her she was very over weight and badly looked after. Now look at her, she's got a second chance at lift and you can just see how much she's enjoying it.... lucky girls to have been welcomed into this gorgeous family.

This family were given a gift voucher last Christmas for family portraits, but with the pandemic and lockdowns etc we only just got around to doing the photo session. We were very lucky to sneak the photos in before rain arrived on a Saturday morning, but the light was beautiful and with these stunning girls we got some lovely photographs in the overcast light at Echo Point Reserve, Roseville Chase.

Mentor1 is an expanding Financial Planning business, and with the expansion they are developing a new website and new staff. So they required headshots of the team to present them to their new clients.
Here they are at one of their offices in Freshwater Beach, going with professional relaxed and modern look.

2020 has been an year, everyone has found their own way of dealing with it, and its an experience it would be great to look back on. The 6 weeks of isolation in April and May made me realise how important family is and how much fun we can all have when we aren't rushing around keeping up with activities.
So at the end of Iso as things started to open up a little I offered mini sessions in peoples front garden so we could all look back on these memories in future. Many of the families included the pets, as they became so important when everyone was at home. And other activities like bike riding, "Just Dance" and basketball.It was a fun project and I've enjoyed looking back on the family photos already, I'm sure they will for years to come.

A beautiful winters afternoon at North Narrabeen Rockpool, spent with these gorgeous, inquisitive boys and their parents. Perfect for a "Weekday 40:40" family portrait session. These sessions are on location for 40 mins and you receive 40 high resolution images. Its a great way to capture your family at this moment in time, in a length of time that isn't to hard work for anyone, especially these boys who I'm sure after I left got themselves thoroughly soaked and stayed to play in the rockpools until dark!

Sullivan Carpentry and Building is a Northern Beaches business that has grown due to its exceptional quality of work, and a fun professional team. As such they haven't needed to do much marketing as most of their work is word of mouth. However, they are wanting to update their website and social media to best represent their work, and update their marketing material for clients. So they contacted me to capture photographs that would express their image via the marekting.
The best way to approach business image photography is to get a full briefing from both the business owner, team and the marketing / social media company or staff to ensure I understand fully their image they want to portray as the photos will tell a thousand words....
This brief from Sullivan Carpentry and Buiding was to photograph some of their jobs to show the style of work they do, much of it beautiful and the attention to detail really impressed me, plus photographs of the team at work. This element was important as they wished to not only add this to the website but also have photographs of the team members to send to new clients so they would know who would be attending to their job. My job here was made easy by the team itself, all very approachable and fun.
Thanks Sullivan Carpentry I'll definitely be in touch with you should I need any work done as I was so impressed with your work. And hopefully now others will be able to see the same through my photographs.

Family photos for a grandmother's birthday is always a hit, and what fun I had with this crowd when I turned up to their birthday celebrations. It did feel a little strange when I arrived and Nanny said "Are you my birthday present..." though.
This family took advantage of our 40:40 Special package being offered on the weekend, we got all the combinations of the family together for Nanny to put up on her wall, and had lots of laughs along the way.

Its very life affirming in these interesting times with the globe shutting down with the Corona Virus to have life go on.... Looking forward to hearing of the birth of this little bubba.

December January 19/20 was a very interesting time in Sydney, constant smoke haze creating some interesting light and environments. Centennial Parklands always has beautiful light and backdrops this was just enhanced by the golden glow of the sun through the smoke.
This family all came together for Christmas so we took the opportunity to take some extended family portraits, with all the generations interacting together it's one of my favourite types of portrait sessions.

So every year I get to photograph this family on an outing, its always fun. This year Grandma is out from England for Christmas so we decided to go to Blues Point Reserve, a great adventure as they caught the ferry from Circular Quay to meet me, and then we enjoyed the view and reserve.
The light was interesting too as there was smoke haze, which seems to be the theme of summer in Sydney this year.

This Weekday 40:40 family portrait session (40 mins & 40 images) was very cute. Mum & Dad had these fun images in mind, with big brothers protecting their little sister.
40 mins is often a good length of time for children of this age as they get distracted and struggle to focus for much longer, and you'll see we manage to get some very cute photos in this amount of time :-)

While I was down in Melbourne recently, for a wedding, I was asked by the family of on emy Mum's oldest and dearest friends to capture some extended family portraits for their 50th Wedding anniversary.
It's always a privilege to capture family memories for people, but its even more special when its a family that I love too x

This lovely family contacted me because their grandmother was coming out from England and celebrating a special birthday with them in Sydney. So they wanted to capture their memories in photographs, the best present ever.
So we had a great morning down at Echo Point Reserve at Roseville Chase, the variety of backdrops and areas really show off Sydney with the coastal gums, the sandstone and the fig trees. We even got a few rainbow lorikeets in the background!

Spring Mini Family Portrait Sessions this year were held at Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden in Lavender Bay. It's such a magical spot, so many little paths to explore, quaint items to find in the gardens, lots of greenery and beautiful light. The weather wasn't as warm as we'd hoped for this time of year, but the gardens were well protected from the cold winds so we had a lovely morning.

This little squishy bundle is the adorable Samuel at 2 and a half weeks old. He's a little older than we would normally take newborn portraits but he's a delight, very alert when awake listening to me talking and looking straight at me to hear what I have to say.... very unusual! Then enjoying having his big brother and family around him, before Mummy gave him a cuddle and put him to sleep, then he was a very content little man too a delight to photograph.

Newborn babies are such a precious gift, and being asked to photograph them to capture these memories is so special. They gorgeous lips, smooth skin, little hands and wrinkled feet..... every detail a wonder. Little Miss Jessica is like a little doll, her parents in awe.
We were lucky enough to photograph her parents wedding a few years ago, and were delighted to hear their family was growing and we were being asked to photograph them. Beach may have been closed at Long Reef, on the day of this family portrait session, because of dangerous surf but that didn't stop the Ness family having lots of fun on the sand. It's such a stunning spot, definitely one of my favourite shooting locations at this time of year.

Would you guess the location for this corporate headshot shoot….. a car park! Its amazing check out the light and the industrial setting at the Tramshed Glebe’s carpark. So instead of using The Boardroom at 'The Butcher and The Farmer' restaurant where the client was meeting we did the shoot in the car park. The light was beautiful and I’m really happy with the outcome of the shots!

This is one of my oldest friends family, and I'm very privileged she asks me regularly to capture her families memories.
This time is was to celebrate some milestone birthdays, while taking advantage of family visiting from Perth. The brief was to capture all the different combinations of family members and their interactions.... I hope I have achieved this, including the will power of a 2 and a half year old, one of my favourite things to do!

I was lucky enough to know Little Miss Payton's family before she did having caputured some family portraits for them just over a year ago. So I was delighted when they contacted me to say the family was expanding and could I photograph this milestone for them. The focus being of course on the new little bubba but also on her big brother..... 2.5 years old is a tricky age to become a big brother and all that responsbility......
It of course was lots of fun coming into the family home and capturing the essence of this little family. Miss Payton didn't want to sleep as she was busy keeping an eye on me, and wondering what her big brother was up to next. Something I'm sure will continue as she grows. And so we have this moment in time captured for the family to look back on in years to come xx

Sometimes with family portraits everything just clicks into place to make the most amazing images..... this combination of a beautiful family, amazing beach, stunning afternoon light, and lots of fun made me take soooo many photos because everything just looked right.

The next installment of my adventures with Peter & Callum. At least once a year we go on an adventure together and I capture the details for them. This year we explored around Barren Joey Headland on both the Pittwater and beach sides. We even got to meet a 'Summer Bay' lifesaver!
As always our adventure included some running races, drawing in the sand (love the photos where Callum has written 'DAD x' in the sand and given his Dad hugs... they are a great team), collecting beach items including a jellyfish, building rock / sand towers and ended with Callum getting wet :-)
The only thing missing this year was their dog Onyx who unfortunately wasn't allowed on the beach :-( next year!

Our winter family portrait mini sessions at Berry Island last weekend were fabulous. We were so lucky with the weather as it was rainy and windy the day before and the morning of but on Sunday afternoon the sun shone and the wind died down so we had perfect conditions.
Berry Island Reserve is on the harbour and has beautiful Sydney coastal gums which to me work wonderfully with winter colours. So thanks to those families who joined us for their 10 min sessions!

Each year I do a fundraiser for the local preschool with family portrait mini sessions in time for Mother's Day. This year was a stunning day at the park near the preschool and we had fun with each of the families. We even did a session of profile images for one of the Mum's businesses.
I also photograph the preschools portraits each year and we ensure the dates are near the mini session day, as it's a great way for the kids to get to know me as the photographer with their families so when I photograph them at preschool they are comfortable.

Sydney autumn is putting on a show this year and we got to enjoy it last weekend at North Narrabeen Rockpools for magic hour, the golden light around sunset. It was a beautiful setting for Sara-Ann and Joel’s engagement portraits.
The session was a present from Sara-Ann’s best friend Portia, we set it up as a surprised with Joel so Sara-Ann didn’t know about it until the day. She was very excited when she found out and was delighted to see the weather we had on the day.
Thank you Portia it’s a beautiful present, and also to Sara-Ann and Joel I thoroughly enjoyed my time with you at the beach, racing the setting sun…..

This family were lucky enough to be given a gift voucher for a family portrait photography session from Little Hudson's grandmother. What a fabulous gift to give, capturing lasting memories for all the family.
We arrange the session at Observatory Hill because the family live in The Rocks and can see their home in the background of some of the photos. Its was a beautiful morning and little Hudson was right into the experience from the beginning so we had a lovely time.

With photography the saying the "early bird catches the worm" is very true for beautiful light..... I met Melissa from The Fitness & Mindset Coach down at North Narrabeen Rockpools early morning on Monday to capture some business images for her to use for her website, blog and socials to promote her personal training business.
I think these images will give a lovely feel to her clients about her business when they view her website, while also portraying strength.

So my annual adventure day with Peter & Callum was to Bare Island La Perouse. The forecast was for rain which would have been fun as I photograph these guys at least once a year and we capture the adventure in a documentary style so whatever happens happens.... but it didn't end up raining and we had a lot of fun exploring the rock pools and castle. As I said to Peter at the end of the session we managed to capture every facial expression and mood in the hour we spent together.... which I think is important with children of Callum's age.
Thanks for the fun boys, looking forward to our next adventure already!

I have photographed some of this family a number of times over the years so it was a pleasure to meet the rest of the family and capture them all together. Multigeneration family portraits are the best fun, watching all the family interact from the cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles, is lots of fun.

What a lucky little girl Miss Lucy is with two adoring big sisters to look after her. At just 10 days old she's being well cared for and cuddled. However, she is a classic third child and didn't want to go to sleep as she might miss something! So as always with newborn baby portraits we were patient, and in between feeding and settling I had some fun with her big sisters, how could I resist photographing these gorgeous girls. Plus I chatted to her parents and found out that her Dad and I had actually been to primary school together! Small world.

One of the best parts about being a photographer is being able to capture some of the most important times in peoples lives, and this is definitely something I've done for Penny & Nick. We photographed their wedding day, newborn baby portraits for their first child and now more baby portraits for bubba number 2. I also got to catch up with their doting Parents / Grandparents again too.
What a gorgeous little man baby Will is too, he wasn't too sleepy but content to just watch the world going on around him, accepting teddies from his big sister which he even cuddled (very cute) and when he was in a basket his big sister thought she needed to be in one too.
I just love working with this family they have such a beautiful loving connection that reads through the photographs and has done since their wedding day.

Clients often come to me for headshots to update their image on social media, this can be for a range of reasons either they are just outdated, or they are looking for a career change, or in JPs case he is looking to move country and applying for roles overseas with people you probably haven't met yet needs the right image upfront.
So when I photograph people for headshots I like to give them a range of options to select the images they wish to use for the right situation. We take a few corporate looking headshots with a grey background, some with suit and tie and some without, then some more casual outdoors and with a different setting. Then the image can be tailored to what you are using the photograph for, be it social media such as linked in or for job applications and proposals.

These siblings contacted me to get some extended family portraits taken for their parents as a present. As always with large families it took us a while to arrange a date which worked for everyone and ended up a little later in the year than planned but the Autumn weather in Sydney was spectacular so we had a beautiful afternoon at Blues Point Reserve overlooking Sydney Harbour and wonderful afternoon light.
The aim of the session was to get photos of the whole family together, some with grandparents, and some of each family. With young children I find I always need to work fast to get their attention and keep it, plus make it active to they enjoy the whole experience. We did all of these things with this family and I think the grandparents will be delighted with the results.

So I first met Miss Everest (named after the snow pup in Paw Patrol.... too cute) when she was fresh to the family at just 8 weeks old, a bundle of energy that was very trick to keep up with.... she even tried to eat the camera :-) Then I came back 6 weeks later to take photos of her with her family, and boy had she grown!
It's so adorable to see the joy she brings to them all. Each sibling insisted on their own photos with Everest as they played and cuddled with her, plus her parents! She is one very lucky pup receiving lots and lots of love x

Kitty and Ben arranged this family portrait session as a present for Kitty's parents 60th birthday’s which are both happening this year. Her Mum selected the Chinese Gardens of Friendship in Darling Harbour which a lovely location, but especially poignant when they grew up in China.
I met the family, including two gorgeous little boys who are 2 and 1 outside the gardens as they opened and we spent an hour walking through and playing the gardens in the morning light, and before it became too busy. We saw birds, fish, and water dragons, plus we also spotted the Rooster sculpture for the 60 year olds as this is their birth year!
Thank you for a lovely morning everyone, it was especially fun as we realised that Ben is good friends with one of my cousins in Melbourne :-)

We met at Stanton Library in North Sydney to get a range of backgrounds to use for different auditions, and finished in the library itself which we felt was just right for the Wizard of Oz audition Alex has coming up!

Oh the fun we had with our glitter mini sessions! Glitter is a little bit like sand you can't help but touch it and play with it, and the sparkle makes everyone that little bit more excited.
We spent the morning with lots of lovely families playing and having fun with the glitter, as you can see below it was a magical experience.

This family portrait photography session was originally booked for February and we planned a morning at the beach, however after a few reschedules we ended up in Autumn and decided to change the location to match the season..... so glad we did because the colours of the leaves and the fun with these very active little boys was just perfect! And we still managed to have some time playing on the beach along this beautiful section of Middle Harbour too.
The best part about photographing young families for me is capturing them interacting and playing together. These boys were so full of energy and cheekiness I had to run to keep up, but I think you'll see we've caught the essence of them in these family portraits.

Diana first contacted me because she'd has some family portraits taken in studio with a gift voucher and was shocked at the cost of purchasing the prints and images, so had looked around and found my all inclusive package where she receives the high resolution images as a great alternative.
She really wanted some summery photographs with bright sun and blue skies, so we needed to arrange the sessions quickly as we are well in to Autumn. These guys were very lucky with the day we received, exactly what they were looking for, a little chilly to start but soon warmed up in the sun.
Our fun session included playing with the seagulls, which Diana loves, and splashing in the water at Chinaman's Beach, Mosman.

We've been lucky enough to capture memories for this family for a long time, including maternity photographs with their eldest child, her baby portraits and now this little mans baby portraits. The family pets always get included in the portrait sessions as they are very much a part of the family.
So you'll see as the focus of this portrait session was on baby Liam who is 12 weeks old, his big sister and family pets also got very involved in the session.

Joyce's sisters and family had gathered in Sydney for her wedding celebrations so they wanted to capture the memories with an extended family portrait session as a present for their parents anniversary. So we had a lovely morning at Centennial Park Sydney, one of my favourite locations with beautiful lakes, Australian paperbark trees and lovely flowers, for a fun photo shoot. The language barrier was a little challenging but with Joyce there to translate we had a great time.

We had a trial run with our girls and some friends for our Glitter Mini Sessions and everyone loved it.... Lets face it who doesn't love a bit of glitter?!?!? and a kilo is a lot to play with.... We put a bit of music on, danced, threw the glitter, lay in the glitter, and even created glitter angels.... They all felt very special and really enjoyed looking at the photos afterwards. The sparkle gives the photos that je ne sais quoi. Our trial day also taught us some tricks about dealing with all that glitter which we'll happily pass along.

Xmirus is a small business looking to refresh it's website and update it's image. Their graphic designer contacted me to take their company images, the brief was to be professional but relaxed showing they are a small business and not caught up in the large corporate end of town. So we had a bit of fun and relaxed in their offices.....

I met Julie a little while ago at an event I was covering and we discussed updating her professional portraits for business use. We talked about how important it is to have an up to date photo to use for your profile as this is often clients first impression of you, and you don't want to meet with them their expectations being completely different to the image you have portrayed.
Whenever I work with clients for professional portraits or profile image sessions I spend some time discussing with them the use of the photos, what image they are portraying and what their clients will expect. We then tend to capture a few different options which can be used for different purposes both online and in business proposals etc. So as you can see from below Julie now has a range of options for the images she would like to use for her business.

I was lucky enough to photography Little Miss Josephine's big brother Oscar when he was a baby almost 3 years ago, so it was lovely to come back to the family home and meet the new addition to the family.
At 11 days old Josphine was very aware of everything around her, and spent a lot of time looking for her big brothers to see what they were up to.... she will definitely be bossing them around soon enough! Particulary her middle brother Oscar who said at least 3 times throughout the morning how much he loved his little sister, and she turned her head to look for hime everyone time he was talking. She is a very lucky little girl to have been born into so much love already.

I was very priviledged last weekend to be invited to capture this families second christening day. They are such a beautiful family both outside and inside and I really enjoyed photographing their elder daughters christening day a couple of years ago, so I was really looking forward to Simon James' day.
As you can see we have photos at their house getting Simon dressed by his god parents, then family photos before heading to Saint Charbel's Church in Punchbowl for the christening ceremony. I then left the family to a lovely seafood lunch by the river at Aquarius Restaurant, George's Hall.

So it's been 6 years since we photographed Misoo & Adrian's wedding day, and now they have two gorgeous little boys!
So lovely to see the whole extended family for a famly portrait photography session last weekend. My favourite part of being a photographer is capturing the interaction between family members, and even more so when that extends to grandparents and aunties. These two little boys are so lucky to have such a fun, loving family around them. Hopefully these photos will remind them of this fact all the time.

I generally photograph Peter & Callum every 6 to 12 months, we meet up somewhere and go for an adventure together. This time was particularly special as Grandma was visiting from England so could join in the fun.
We had the session booked for months and had chosen Clifton Gardens, Mosman. However, we weren't to know it was going to be 38 degrees on this particular Sunday afternoon, after a long stretch of hot weather, which meant that Clifton Gardens was packed with people and we couldn't even get a parking spot! So we changed location and went to Sirius Cove, which is just around the corner but always quieter. There were lots of people at the main bay with their dogs cooling off, but we were aiming for Little Sirius Cove and the beach in front of the Sea Scout Hall which is so picturesque.
As you can see we enjoyed our time on the little beach, getting our feet wet to cool down, and I was so impressed with how well everyone coped in the heat, especially Grandma!

Little George was 2 weeks old when it went to his home to take his photograph. Usually we recommend we take newborn style photographs before the baby is 10 days old, however as George's mother is a few old friend of mine we agreed we could be patient (using the time it took to settle him to sleep as a chance to catch up!) and still take sleepy photos of this little cherub.
I got the call from his Mum after they had had friends over with a new good camera they were playing with after Christmas..... and they realised that iPhone photos just weren't doing their little man justice and they really needed some "proper" photos taken of him at this precious stage. Something I recommend to most people..... but I am a little biased as I prefer good quality photos of for my children to look back on.
As you can see we had a lovely morning of cuddles with George, including capturing his little frown he sleeps with, for his Newborn Baby Portrait Session.

Our Aussie Santa Photos at Long Reef Beach had to be rescheduled last Friday beacuse of bad weather, so we moved all the sessions to the next day and look at the change in weather..... perfect!

I met this lovely family at another family event I photographed earlier this year, so I was delighted when they contacted me to take some extended family portraits as one of the siblings was returning from the US for holidays.
This is a blended family with lots of different combinations of family to photograph, the multi generations are always fun. The group ranged from just a few days old to the grandparents. The best part about this shoot was how loving and fun the whole extended family are together.... I love capturing that.

We were blessed with an absolutely beautiful afternoon last Sunday for our Aussie Beach Santa photos at Long Reef Beach. Thank you to all the lovely families who came down and joined us.
As usual Santa had those that loved him, those that were a little wary and those that were scared.... he walked away, he snuck up behind, he played in the sand and he laughed along with the children. Mostly it worked :-)

Annaleise's Christening Day
I've photographed many events for this extended family over the last few years and just love seeing this large family all together.
We started photographing Annaleise's christening day with some family portraits at the family home before heading off to Our Lady of Lebanon in Harris Park for the ceremony. It was a very hot afternoon and little Annaleise's fell asleep during the ceremony and didn't even wake up with the water was being poured over her head! She is just adorable and loved being handed around to all the family, and she's so photogenic I couldn't get enough of her.
After the ceremony the celebrations continued in Woolwich at Cucinetta's with a wonderful atmosphere and view across the harbour.

These guys contacted me to get some sibling photos taken for their Mum's birthday present. With one brother living overseas they took the chance to have these photos taken while he was home on holidays, as their Mum kept asking for photos of them together, so they arrange to have me take some professional portraits for them for her birthday.
As you can see they have a great relationship and are close siblings, so we had lots of laughs and fun on a beautiful morning down at Chinaman's Beach Mosman. I always love working with families as it's so great to be able to capture these kind of connections.
I'm sure your Mum will be delighted with her present guys, something for her to treasure as she doesn't get to see you all together all the time :-)

We photographed this couples wedding 5 years ago, so we were really pleased to hear from them recently to be asked to capture some family portraits for them of their family of four. We always love catching up with the couples we've photographed and seeing them interacting with their families.
Dave and Sarah have recently moved into this beautiful home up in North Turramurra that has a fabulous back garden that backs onto the national park, and offers all sorts of adventures, so it was the perfect setting for their family portrait photographs.

Elysia and Domenic have had a long engagement, we meet them a year ago in the planning stages and are very excited that their big day is only a month away now!
It was lovely to catch up with them and spend some time with them at Chinaman's Beach, Mosman for their pre wedding photography session. They are so happy and relaxed in each others company it's very easy to photograph them, and Domenic's cheeky grin is very infectious.

The gorgeous Stewart family are visting relatives in Sydney and thought they'd take the opportunity to have some family portrait photographs taken. It's such a lovely idea to have beautiful family photos to remember your holiday by. The location we chose was Blues Point Reserve because it affords fabulous views of both the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, there was even a few ferries in the background to make the photos as icon Sydney as possible.
They are such a loving family and the little interactions are beautiful to capture.....I hope you all enjoy the rest of your holiday!

How goreous is this little rescue dog Tom Tom, it was a delight photograph this perky little dog this morning. He's been with the family for 9 years and is the cutest little dog. The family that own him have moved to America for a few years so their grandparents are looking after him... and loving it! They thought it woudl be nice to have some professional dog portraits taken for the family in America to look at as they miss their dog.
Such a lovely idea, and an adorable dog!

The way this family came to be photographed by me was quite funny, they were referred by friends and sent an email through enquirying about our services. I replied and then got a phone call a few days later from one of our neighbours who lives up the street who started talking about the email and about my photography..... neither of us knew each others surname as you don't tend to these days, so until our mobiles recognised each others numbers we didn't realise it was our neighbour we were discuss family portrait with! So once we worked this out it was quite exciting to think that we would be working together....
The day wasn't a disappointment, we had lots of fun with this family of 5, all three kids with different personalities and I hope I managed to capture this in my photography. Playing in the park and trees at Echo Point Park, Roseville and then down onto the beach.... my only problem there was trying to compete with the ducks for attention!

When we offer preschool portrait photography to varous Kindergartens we also offer a family portrait mini session fundraising day, where each family books a 10 mins session from which they receive 6 high resolution images. Included in the package is a $15 donation to the preschool.
These sessions work really well in 2 ways, it raises funds for community preschools, and also give the preschoolers a chance to get comfortable with me taking their picture before I go into the kindergarten for their photo day. I try to schedule the family portrait mini session days close to the portrait photography days for this benefit.

I just love photographing little ones around this age, Balen is 13 months old and they are just so curious, but the best part about photographing babies and toddlers is capturing all the range of expressions they make as they practice communicating, it's just adorable and Balen was no expection.
When photographing young children, if possible, I recommend we start at their home so they are in a comfortable environment, and then we can venture to a local area. This also give you a range of indoor photographs with flash lighting, and outdoor natural light images. This family are lucky enough to live near Ku-ring-gah National Park so after some fun at their lovely home we headed to the National Park which has lots of beautiful spaces.

We've been friends with this family for a number of years now, we met them through Artarmon Community Church. They are such a lovely generous family and lots of fun. So when they contacted me about having some family portraits taken when both sides of the family grandparents could attend I was delighted, I knew it would be a lovely afternoon.
We met at Tambourine Bay, in Riverview for some beautiful bush and harbour photos. All three generations of the family got into the swing of things and we had a bit of fun, you would never guess that the grandparents were in their 90's and 80s!

Baby Nicholas was born early so we decided to wait until his due date to have his newborn baby portraits taken, he did keep an eye on my for a long time and not really want to go to sleep however his alertness was great as he was very focused and strong with his body control. Big sister Rebecca was also very excited and enjoyed keeping an eye on what I was up to, joining in with her own cardboard box camera and being a fabulous big sister looking after her baby brother.
But as they say patience is the key when photographing babies and finally he decided he was tired for some beauitful sleepy baby photos :-)

Ahh Sydney's Northern Beaches really do spoil us with their natural beauty, there are so many fabulous locations for Family Portrait Photography sessions. The North Narrabeen Rockpools are perfect either early morning or late afternoon. On this occasion I met this little family early morning with the wave crashing and early morning swimmers we had a ball.
Little George just loved watching the waves, and eating the shells, he has some good little dance moves too! And there is nothing better than finishing a photo shoot with a high five......

Last Wednesday we had a fabulous morning with this little family at Centennial Park. What's there not t like about Centennial Park for an almost 2 year old, we had ducks, lots of birds, bubbles, bats and even some freshly cut grass to sprinkle through our hair.....
Shubhy said when she was looking for a family portrait photographer she came across my website and just felt that I was right for them, something about my photography talked to her. That's the best thing about what we do, the best way to pick a photographer is to find something that connects with you in their photography and you know it will be right. We had a fabulous time together, and you know it's worked well when you finish the shoot with the wee little man running full pelt at you to give you a hug x

Our final afternoon of Aussie Santa Photos at Long Reef Beach, on Sydney's northern beaches, was postponed by a day because of rain, but the following day was a beautiful afternoon well worth the wait.
We had a bit of every things this afternoon, lots of fun and laughs with Santa. Plus a 5 DAY OLD baby having her photos with Santa straight from being discharged from the hospital, a family who wanted portraits without Santa, some lovely puppies and a few kids scared who didn't realise Santa was there until the last minute.

On arrival at this family home I was greeted by saying "Welcome to Chaos"..... as you'd expect with 4 generations of one family all together, and that's what I love about extended family portrait sessions.
So I hope I have captured some of this craziness in my photography of this clan, I just love watching the interactions of everyone together and see the different personalities shining through..... it's this essence that I try capture and keep these memories for the families for years to come.

Alex contacted me to get some portfolio images taken for her Caberet Act called "Fan Girl" about a crazed Doctor Who fan..... so the first place I thought of was Angel Place next to Martin Place Sydney, something about the location makes we think of Doctor Who....
So much fun working work a professional actor, capturing photographs in the lunch crowd in the middle of the city can be interesting, but the crowd immediately got what we were up to and observed from a distance.
We had two characters to capture "Fan Girl" a crazy Doctor Who Fan, and the other character is a Doctor Who side kick.

Ryan arranged a family portrait photography gift voucher earlier this year for Rebecca as a present, and they chose the best time of year to use it.
We arranged to meet early morning at Whale Beach, a spot they've always enjoyed coming to on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. It's just magical and especially first thing in the morning. I arrived a little earlier than them and thoroughly enjoyed my time just sitting and watching the waves, surfers, walkers and even a guy practicing his sand wedge shots up and down the beach!

Little Orla was just adorable, but she did not want to be going to sleep while I was around, she was far to interested in everything and just wanted to keep an eye on me. Luckily her gorgeous parents were very relaxed and happy to go with the flow, so we got some lovely photos of them interacting with their new little angel and also of Orla relaxing. Then finally with a little encouragement some sleep ....

We have been lucky enough to know little Leland's family for a long time. We photographed his parents wedding almost 6 years ago and also took newborn baby portraits of his big brother Bertram 3 years ago. It's so lovely to bein involved in our clients families and see them grow and change.

The Tan family were in Sydney for their youngest son's university gradulation, visiting from Malaysia so wanted to have memories of their visit to Sydney. And to take advantage of all being in the one city for a change. So we headed to Blues Point Reserve which has fabulous views of both Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.
The morning was overcast and raining but Sydney still puts on a show and looks great in this weather.

It was time for my bi-annual activity with Peter & Callum, its been a little bit longer than normal between shoots so Callum has grown up a bit!
Peter has asked us to photograph his adventures with his son every 6 months of so since his was a baby, it's a great way to capture his growing up and all the exciting things they get up to. Plus Peter is English so its lovely to have these photos to send home to his family. Unfortunately they've changed the rules about dogs being allowed on the beach at Chinaman's Beach, Mosman so their black lab Onyx couldn't come this time.
Today's adventure was an afternoon at the beach, lots of fun chasing a beach ball in the wind, mucking around in the waves and then seaching for crabs on the rocks.

Oh the fun!
Fi is one of my oldest friends, our mothers were friends before we were born so we have known each other all our lives. We have one of those friendships that picks up where is left off even if its been a year since we've seen each other, very special. So I was super excited last weekend to meet her whole extended family up at Pearl Beach on the Central Coast for an extended family portrait session. They were up there for a family holiday to celebrate some family milestone birthdays and thought it was a great opportunity to get some professional family photos of everyone in a great setting.
Justin came too and we had so much fun, it helps that I've known them all my whole life, but even so they are a great laugh. The cheaky look on Terry (the grandfathers) face has always been there, he always looks like he's thinking something naughty and he's passed that gene down through the family!

We first photographed Bride & Ant for their wedding 6 years ago, on a beautiful spring afternoon at North Narrabeen Beach (wedding was pre blog sorry!)..... we also photographed their first little boy with some baby portraits some 4 years ago. So when Bride called to say she wanted to give Ant an extended family portrait session for their 6th wedding anniversary I was so excited as we haven't seen them in an while!
We decided to head back to North Narrabeen beach as its such a fantastic location in afternoon sunlight, and the shoot was booked almost to the same date and time as their wedding..... the weather and light were just as amazing! We had lots of fun with the boys, letting them be boys, and also with grandparents. Such fabulous memories to capture.

I was invited along to the Carlile Swimming Operations Managers Conference last month to capture some lovely friendly corporate headshots of their staff, and also photograph a session of their annual conference.
It was a beautiful winters morning down at Novotel Manly Beach, and I had a lovely time with their fantastic, friendly staff. I think we captured the essence of their personalities in their images below....

Baby Ethan is just 4 weeks old, and he's been lucky enough to have his grandparents out visiting from the UK. So his parents thought is would be great to get some extended family portraits with both sets of grandparents, plus his parents and 2 year old sister Catelyn, before they headed home. So we met at Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden in Lavender Bay, it's such a hidden gem of Sydney.
As you can see, as always seems to be the case with 2 year old, his big sister Catelyn was the centre of attention. However, Ethan was very alert and responsive with lovely smiles and giggles already! So we did manage to get some lovely family moments with Ethan.....

Debby and Simon met in Sydney at university, and have lived in Hong Kong ever since. So they were out visiting family and friends in Sydney, with their children, and wanted to capture some family portraits to remember their visit.
Debby also commented that most portrait studios in Hong Kong work indoors, so its great to get some family portraits taken on location.... and who could ask for a better location than Blues Point Reserve in North Sydney, with it's spectacular views of Sydney Harbour, on a beautiful Sydney winters day.
As you can see they are an active family and love running, jumping, climbing and generally having fun.... so that is what I've captured here for them....

I just love working in the Sydney winter light its so lovely and clear, and Centennial Park is such a great setting in beautiful sunshine or rain, so when Sumaira & Waqas chose the location for their family I was really pleased.
This family portrait session was just perfect, the light, time of day, location, and last but not at all least this beautiful family. They had such a lovely approach to the day and were very excited and giggly throughout. The girls smiles are just infectious, and such gorgeous relaxed parents.
We all enjoyed our morning, with the girls also learning all sorts of things about the native wildlife and trees as they live overseas it was all new to them. They were particularly fasinated by the colony of bats living in the trees, even if it did take me a while to convince the little one that they weren't coconuts :-)

The lovely Anne Evans from Mosman Pilates invited me into her studio this week to capture some professional profile and website photographs for her. This is something that many companies request from time to time, it really is worthwhile having professional photographs of your business as your website and online profile is often the first touch point for many clients, so you want to present yourself in the best possible light.... pardon the pun!
As well as being a pilates instructor with a fabulous studio, Anne is also an author so we captured a range of images to cover both areas and present a different image for the different facets of her life. While also taking some professional photographs of the studio itself for use in her business marketing.
It's is a fabulous studio, I would love to work in a studio with a north facing window and natural light like this one every day.... Thanks Anne!

Baby William at 10 days old is very alert and knows exactly what he wants..... and thats to be held all cuddly and warm in Mummy & Daddy's arms. He really didn't like me coming in and trying to put him down on his own, then unwarp him! But he was good enough to give me just a few minutes to take these photos, and lots of time in his parents arms taking photos. But I think the last photo about sums up what William thought of the whole experience..... hand over the face saying "No more photos please!" Such a shame because he is just adorable, look at those perfect little lips.... even pouting x
These guys are actually friends of a couple whose wedding we photographed 5 years ago, that couple arranged a gift voucher for a newborn shoot for William's parents, such a great idea to help his parents remember this precious time......

It's she just adorable with those beautiful big blue eyes and the alabaster skin, little Emily at 3 months old.
Emily's parents had seen my work at a friends place and contacted me when she was only a few weeks old to arrange a baby portrait photography session. As I always advise I suggested we wait until she was over 12 weeks old so that we can capture her personality in the photos. We booked in a date and the moved it as she was having physio on her neck, so we waited for her to get stronger and be a more relaxed baby...... and these are the results.
When I arrived at their home she was happy and smiley, so we got to work quickly, before she got tired. Then she had a few naps and cuddles. What I love is the range of expression you get from a young baby, especially when she is staring at your taking everything in. I also had fun with her big 5 year old brother Harry, playing in his room, and having cuddles with his little sister.....

This family contacted me with a last minute booking because their daughter was heading overseas for a year and they thought it would be good to get some family photos taken before she leaves. It's such a lovely idea for her to have memories of home.
So we arrange a mini session at the family dinner the night before she departed. All these photos taken in the family home with her parents, brothers and grandmother will be lovely for her to look back on if she's ever feeling a little homesick.....

The lovely Jeanette's family arranged this extended family portrait session to coincide with their weekend of celebrations for her 80th birthday. Proud Grandparents always appreciate family photographs, and these photos will be especially treasured.
The family including her two daughters, and three grand daughters had all travelled to Sydney for the weekend, with a special night out. So we met in The Rocks in the late afternoon for these portraits, before they all headed out to dinner. I really enjoyed my time with the whole family which was all laughs.
Then two days later I received an email from one of Jeanette's daughters telling me that she had suffered a stroke on the Sunday and was paralised down her right side, so I sent over some photos of the whole family for her to have beside her bed in hospital. Life is strange with its twists and turns, and I'm sure this whole family appreciates this time they had together, and the photos which capture their memories, and this beautiful, bubbly lady, with the infectious smile.

Isn't Ishara just the cutest little thing, I just love 6 months old, it's such an adorable age to photograph as they try to entertain you, and look curiously at everything you do.
Ishara's parents were very lucky and a friend arranged a baby portrait gift voucher for them as a present when her Mum went on maternity leave. These gift vouchers can be used for portrait sessions with the baby anytime up until they are 1 year old. So I came to their family home and had some fun with them all, and really enjoyed editing the photos with those beautiful brown eyes!

With the weather we've been having in Sydney lately I'm surprised we've been able to capture many outdoor portrait sessions. Steph & Garth's engagement portrait session was postponed from its first weekend as it was just too wet. So we booked again for last Saturday afternoon, our original plan was to capture the portraits in the late afternoon light, but looking at the forecast that morning we brought it forward. I'm so glad we did as we managed to photograph these lovely portraits just before the next storm arrived, literally I was half way home in the car when the most torrential downpour came!
So we met at Angel Place in the centre of Sydney, right next to Martin Place, it has an art installation called "Forgotten Songs" with bird cages suspended above the lane way, there is audio accompaniment of bird calls from the birds which were found in this area because European Settlement pushed them out. It's such a lovely tranquil place, and so photogenic I'm really pleased Steph & Garth chose this location. After some time here we went to another city sanctuary the Royal Botanic Gardens which never disappoints with its beautiful green lushness.....

Nora contacted me a little while ago because she lives overseas and was heading home to visit her parents and introduce her new little baby Sebastian. While she is in Sydney she wanted to capture some portraits of her 4 month old baby boy with his grandparents and parents. What fabulous memories for all!
So we met at the family home in Russell Lea for a few portraits before heading outdoors to Rod Park in Russell Lea, on Sydney Harbour on a beautiful Sydney autumn day. Who could ask for more, it was so good that Sebastian fell asleep exhausted at the end of the shoot!

The best part about our jobs is that we get to see people in the most important phases of their lives, and often get to keep connecting with our clients. We photographed Penny & Nick's wedding just under 2 years ago, and were very excited when they contacted us to tell us their first baby was on the way and asked us to photograph her when she got here.... yay!
So please meet little Miss Isabelle, she is just gorgeous and her parents look just as excited about her as they were on their wedding day x
Newborn portrait photography is all about patience, and Isabelle made sure I had plenty as she really wasn't sure she wanted to be striped or not cuddled. Lucky for me she had some of her grandparents visiting from overseas who I got to know at the wedding so I enjoyed waiting and chatting as much as taking the photos!

Meet baby Isla just 5 days young!
Isla's Mum was our eldest daughters class teacher last year, so I feel like I've watched Isla grow all her life! It was such a treat to finally meet her and be asked to "Capture the Memories" for her family of this precious time, when she is such a wee little thing. She was such a good girl too, lovely and relaxed.
Thank you Sally & Chris for inviting me into your home, you have such a beautiful little family, I look forward to watching little Isla grow x
